My name is Taylor Barstad. I’m a born and raised Oklahoman, with a deep love for the theatre.
Ever since I was a little girl, there’s always been something special about the theatre to me. I can still remember the first time I was in a play. I was 8 years old playing a Dalmatian puppy in a production of 101 Dalmatians. I remember the nervous excitement while everyone was backstage, the pure bliss of being onstage and performing the play I had spent hours learning and practicing. Even at that young age, I knew there was something really wonderful about the whole theatrical experience.
As I grew older, I decided I wanted to become a playwright. I didn’t want to write just any plays, though. I wanted to write plays that were full of the grace and charm of the old Hollywood era. From the screwball comedy to the intriguing storylines, I wanted to make my plays feel like they came from a different, yet wonderful time. I’ve always felt that the sign of a good play is that, when it’s over, you feel like you’ve made a new friend. That’s what my plays will do for people.
Besides the theatre and my writing, I also love dogs, old movies and tv shows, cooking and baking, and vacationing at national parks.
