The Wrong Miss Halliday: The Characters

What is a play without characters? Here is the complete list of the characters in The Wrong Miss Halliday, and a brief description of them:

Roger Marshall: A millionaire businessman. He is initially very uptight and cynical, but becomes softer throughout the play.

Joan Halliday: An interior decorator. She works for Mr. Lawson. She can be feisty at times, but never loses her professionalism.

Nick Marshall: A millionaire businessman. He’s Roger’s younger brother, and Jan’s fiancé. The complete opposite of Roger, he is a very easygoing and trusting individual.

Jan Halliday: An interior decorator. She works for Mr. Lawson, alongside Joan. She is Joan’s younger sister, and Nick’s fiancée. A bit on the flaky side, but also very kind and sweet.

Tommy Tompkins: A private investigator. Works for Marshall’s Private Investigation Agency. He is a very incompetent and bumbling sort of person.

Barbara: A maid. Works at the Marshall estate. She’s Tommy’s love interest. A complete ditz, she’s always doing and saying the wrong things, without ever truly realizing it.

Walter: A butler. Works at the Marshall estate. He’s a little on the quiet side.

Charles: A waiter. Works at Marshall’s Restaurant. He is extremely stuffy.

Mr. Lawson: Joan and Jan’s boss. He owns his own interior decorating business. A bit of a curmudgeon, but with a heart of gold.
